Want to keep your Discord community buzzing with fresh AI insights? Here's the secret: let automation do the heavy lifting! This guide shows you how to use Latenode to take articles from RSS feeds, transform them into viral posts with ChatGPT, create stunning visuals with Recraft, and post everything to your Discord server - all on autopilot.
What's RSS and Discord Automation All About?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is how websites share their latest articles in a format computers can read. By connecting to an RSS feed, you can automatically capture new articles, let ChatGPT transform them into engaging posts, create eye-catching images with Recraft, and post them to Discord.
In this tutorial, we'll pull AI research articles from The Gradient, transform them into punchy Discord posts with provocative questions, and share them with your community using Latenode - a super friendly tool that makes automation easy.
The Unique Value is set to ‘pubDate’ - this way, we’ll capture the latest article from The Gradient.
Choose 1 as "Maximum Number of Returned Items" - this ensures you process one article at a time.
This node will output a raw article plus unnecessary HTML tags with it. We need to clean out the output, and get only the plain text of the article.
To do that, the workflow uses the Converter Node called "Clean the RSS Node Output" that removes all HTML tags and returns the plain text of the AI news.
Let ChatGPT Create a Discord Post & Generate an Image Prompt
Open the OpenAI ChatGPT Integration node called "Generate a Message + Image Gen Prompt". Inside, you’ll find the prompt that creates both outputs in the JSON format:
A viral post (max 280 characters) with a personal hook and provocative P.S. question.
An image generation prompt that's visually compelling and emotionally provocative.
The prompt takes the cleaned article text and turns it into a Discord post that reflects the core message and context of the news.
Create a Stunning Visual with Recraft
The Recraft node called "Create an Illustration" takes the image prompt from ChatGPT. It's set to use:
Model: RECRAFTV3
Style: Digital Illustration
Size: 1024x1024
Response Format: URL (so Discord can display it directly)
As a result, we’ve got a ready-made image that we’re going to post alongside the text on our Discord channel.
Send It to Discord
Now it’s time to send our finished message to Discord using our bot. To do this, we’ll create a short JavaScript function - no need to code anything, just ask Latenode’s AI Assistant to generate a snippet. This function connects to our Discord bot and posts a message to the right channel.
But first, let’s set up the bot in Discord. Here’s what you need to do before running the function:.
Open your Discord Server Menu
Navigate to Settings.
Go to "Integrations," then "Webhooks".
Create a new webhook for the bot, name it, choose the channel where you want it to post.
Copy the Webhook URL.
Paste that URL into the "Discord Webhook URL" field. The node also combines the post and the image URL.
You can make a test run of this node to check if a post with an image is published. After a successful run, the node will turn green, and a new message from the bot will appear in your Discord channel.
Turn It On and Let It Run!
When everything looks good, click "Deploy" in the top-right corner.
That's it! Your automation will now watch for new articles, create Discord posts, generate images, and post to Discord automatically.
