Save and Activate the Scenario
After configuring GitLab, Gender API, and any additional nodes, don’t forget to save the scenario and click "Deploy." Activating the scenario ensures it will run automatically whenever the trigger node receives input or a condition is met. By default, all newly created scenarios are deactivated.
Test the Scenario
Run the scenario by clicking “Run once” and triggering an event to check if the GitLab and Gender API integration works as expected. Depending on your setup, data should flow between GitLab and Gender API (or vice versa). Easily troubleshoot the scenario by reviewing the execution history to identify and fix any issues.
Most powerful ways to connect GitLab and Gender API
GitLab + Gender API + Slack: When a new user joins a GitLab project, their username is used to determine gender via the Gender API. A personalized welcome message, including appropriate pronouns, is then sent to the user in Slack.
GitLab + Gender API + Google Sheets: This automation analyzes the gender distribution of contributors to a GitLab project using the Gender API. It then records the aggregated gender data in a Google Sheet for diversity tracking purposes.
