Save and Activate the Scenario

After configuring Gender API, Github, and any additional nodes, don’t forget to save the scenario and click "Deploy." Activating the scenario ensures it will run automatically whenever the trigger node receives input or a condition is met. By default, all newly created scenarios are deactivated.

Test the Scenario

Run the scenario by clicking “Run once” and triggering an event to check if the Gender API and Github integration works as expected. Depending on your setup, data should flow between Gender API and Github (or vice versa). Easily troubleshoot the scenario by reviewing the execution history to identify and fix any issues.

Most powerful ways to connect Gender API and Github

Github + Gender API + Slack: When a new collaborator joins a Github repository, their email is used to determine gender via the Gender API. If the identified gender is male, a message is posted to a designated Slack channel reminding the team about diversity improvement strategies.

Github + Gender API + Google Sheets: When a new commit is made to a Github repository, the committer's email is used to determine their gender via the Gender API. The committer's information and gender are then logged into a Google Sheet for diversity monitoring purposes.
