Streamline Airtable image management: Automatically upload attachments

This automation workflow helps users streamline the process of converting image URLs into uploaded attachments in an Airtable database. It retrieves records containing image URLs, then updates the corresponding attachment fields in Airtable with the actual image files.

This is particularly useful for users who need to manage visual assets in their Airtable-powered applications or databases. The workflow integrates with the Airtable API to fetch records, extract image URLs, and update attachment fields, making the overall process more efficient and automated.

How Latenode estimates time and cost

Latenode bills workflow runs in credits: 1 credit = 30 seconds of processing. Minimum charge per run depends on your plan. Plug-and-Play (PnP) AI nodes are billed separately—each PnP token is $1 USD, charged pay-as-you-go at vendor cost plus a small processing fee, with no API keys required.

What this template does

  • Fetches records from Airtable containing image URLs
  • Extracts the image URLs from the specified field
  • Uploads the images as attachments to the corresponding Airtable records
  • Saves the uploaded images to the designated attachment field
  • Automates the process of managing visual assets in Airtable databases

How it works

1
Trigger

Fetch Airtable Records

The workflow starts by fetching all relevant records from an Airtable base that contain image URLs.

2
Logic

Process Image URLs

For each Airtable record, the workflow extracts the image URLs from the designated field.

3
Action

Upload Images to Airtable

The workflow then uploads the images corresponding to the extracted URLs as attachments to the same Airtable record.

Setup guide

1

Add Airtable Credential

Add your Airtable API credential in the Latenode Credentials panel. This will allow the workflow to securely access your Airtable base and table.

2

Configure Airtable Base and Table

In the Airtable node settings, select the Airtable base and table you want to work with. Map the 'Image source URL' field to the field in your Airtable table that contains the image URLs.

3

Map Attachment Field

In the 'Update attachment field with images' node, map the 'Image attachment' field to the attachment field in your Airtable table where you want the images to be uploaded.

4

Set Filter Formula

In the 'Get all records with an image URL' node, set the 'Filter by Formula' to only retrieve records where the 'Image source URL' field is not empty.

5

Manually Trigger Workflow

Click the 'Execute Workflow' button to start the automation and convert the image URLs into uploaded attachments in your Airtable database.

Requirements

Airtable API key with read and write access to the target base and table
