Save and Activate the Scenario
After configuring Contacts+, Github, and any additional nodes, don’t forget to save the scenario and click "Deploy." Activating the scenario ensures it will run automatically whenever the trigger node receives input or a condition is met. By default, all newly created scenarios are deactivated.
Test the Scenario
Run the scenario by clicking “Run once” and triggering an event to check if the Contacts+ and Github integration works as expected. Depending on your setup, data should flow between Contacts+ and Github (or vice versa). Easily troubleshoot the scenario by reviewing the execution history to identify and fix any issues.
Most powerful ways to connect Contacts+ and Github
Contacts+ + Github + Slack: When a new contact is created in Contacts+, the automation searches for the user's Github profile. If a profile is found and their bio contains keywords related to development (e.g., 'developer', 'engineer'), a message is sent to a designated Slack channel notifying the team about the potential new developer contact.
Github + Contacts+ + Google Sheets: When a user creates a new push in a Github repository, the automation creates or updates a contact in Contacts+ using the committer's email. The contact information, along with details about the Github push, is then added to a Google Sheet for tracking contributions.
