Anthropic announced Claude Opus 5.5, the first model in its Claude 5.5 family, and said it is available through Anthropic, AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. In the API, it appears as claude-opus-5-5.
In the Anthropic announcement, the company lists standard pricing at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. Anthropic says typical workloads cost about 40% less than Opus 5 because of lower token prices and fewer tokens used per task, and that output arrives more than 30% faster.
The company positions Opus 5.5 as an upgrade for agent-style work, with gains over Opus 5 in agentic coding, computer use, visual reasoning, and long-horizon tasks. Anthropic also says safety classifiers can route some cyber requests to Opus 4.8 and some biology or frontier-AI requests to Opus 5. For teams running multi-step agents, that routing is worth monitoring because it can affect latency, outputs, and tool behavior across a workflow.
