Anthropic opens Claude Duet preview to US Pro and Max users

Duet raises the bar for consumer-facing proactive agents, but its polling cadence and approval gates leave room for automation platforms that need deterministic triggers, APIs and tighter workflow control.

Anthropic opens Claude Duet preview to US Pro and Max users

Anthropic opened Claude Duet, a proactive agent app, to US Claude Pro and Max subscribers through a waitlisted research preview on October 21, 2026.

Claude Duet runs on the web and in standalone iOS and Android apps. It can prepare a morning brief, watch connected services and alert users when something needs attention. A virtual machine with its own browser lets tasks continue after the user steps away.

Anthropic says Duet can work with more than 6,000 connectors and plugins from the Claude Marketplace. Sensitive actions such as sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting data still require approval.

For builders, this is not a drop-in replacement for real-time agentic workflows. Duet checks accounts periodically, draws from plan usage limits and has no announced API. Team and Enterprise customers are also excluded for now.
