OpenAI rolls out Ultrafast for GPT-6.1 Sol

Builders get a faster service tier for latency-sensitive agents, but the tradeoff is a 6x price jump over Standard and limited access by plan and workspace.

OpenAI rolls out Ultrafast for GPT-6.1 Sol

OpenAI rolled out Ultrafast mode for GPT-6.1 Sol across the API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work, according to its launch post.

The new tier is priced well above Standard. OpenAI API pricing lists Ultrafast at $12 per 1M input tokens and $60 per 1M output tokens, and the model docs say that is 6x Standard. In Work and Codex, launch access is limited to Pro $500 and eligible Enterprise and Edu workspaces; Plus, Pro $100, Pro $200, and Business do not get access at launch.

API teams can enable it by setting service_tier to ultrafast, making this mainly a latency-versus-cost decision for production agent workloads.
