Pipedream Workflows shuts down on March 31, 2027
The Pipedream Alternative for Workflows That Must Keep Running
Pipedream has put Workflows and String into maintenance mode and stopped taking new subscriptions. Describe a workflow to Latenode's AI Copilot and it rebuilds it on the canvas: Node.js with full npm support, 335+ AI models built in, billed per CPU-second rather than per step.

What Pipedream Announced
The notice appeared on Pipedream's docs in late September or early October 2026. Pipedream Connect, its API, MCP servers and proxy for developers, is not affected.
Now
Maintenance mode
Existing workflows keep running, but Pipedream no longer accepts signups or subscriptions for Workflows and will not ship new features for it.
March 31, 2027
Workflows and String shut down
Workflows stop. Pipedream cancels remaining subscriptions on that date and issues a prorated refund.
April 30, 2027
All Workflows data deleted
Pipedream permanently deletes Workflows data, including the credentials and OAuth tokens of connected accounts.
“We've decided we're focusing on being the integration layer companies rely on to connect AI to the outside world, and Workflows falls outside that focus.”
Migrate with AI
Paste the Export. Latenode Rebuilds It.
You don't redraw a Pipedream workflow node by node. Export it, paste the JSON into AI Copilot, review the plan, then test and deploy.
- 1
Export the workflow from Pipedream
Export each project from Pipedream. Every workflow's JSON lists its trigger, steps, code and settings: the blueprint Copilot rebuilds from.
- 2
Paste it into AI Copilot
Ask Copilot to rebuild the scenario from the exported JSON. Add a line on what the code does if it is not obvious from the steps.
- 3
Review the plan, watch it build
Copilot puts a numbered plan on the canvas and waits for your approval, then adds, connects and configures the nodes. Ask it to change anything.
- 4
Run once, then deploy
Test on the Development branch with real data. Deploy publishes the version to Production; to roll back, deploy an earlier version.
Scenarios / lead-intake (from Pipedream)Webhooks get separate Development and Production URLs, so you test the rebuilt workflow on real payloads while Pipedream still serves traffic, then switch senders to the Production URL.
The AI scenario helper is in beta, can make mistakes and uses PnP tokens. Review every generated scenario before you deploy it. AI scenario helper docs
Your Node.js Steps Move Over
Latenode runs Node.js with full npm support: import any package from npm and pin its version. The run function changes shape, and two habits change: use import instead of require, and axios instead of fetch.
Stuck on a step? The AI assistant inside the code node writes, explains and debugs code. Paste a Python, Go or Bash step and ask for the Node.js version. Node.js node docs
Why Pipedream Users Pick Latenode
Step count never raises the bill
Pipedream did not charge per step, and neither does Latenode. You pay for CPU-seconds of execution time, with unlimited nodes per scenario.
Node.js with full npm support
Import any npm package and pin its version in the code node. Your Node.js steps move over with their logic intact.
AI Copilot instead of String
Describe a workflow and Copilot plans it, builds it on the canvas, explains existing nodes and helps debug a failed run.
Safe cutover with Dev and Prod
Every scenario has Development and Production branches, versioned on each save. Deploy when it works, roll back by deploying an earlier version.
AI models without API keys
335+ models are available inside workflow nodes on one bill, or bring your own key for any provider.
Browser, database and MCP built in
A headless browser and a database are on every plan, and an MCP Trigger turns any scenario into tools that Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can call.
What the Same Workflow Costs
In our September 2026 benchmark we built one eight-step workflow on both platforms and read each meter.
| Pipedream Workflows | Latenode (Pay as you go) | |
|---|---|---|
| Billable units per run (measured) | 1 credit | 4 CPU-seconds |
| How the meter works | 1 credit per 30 seconds of compute at 256MB; more memory multiplies it | CPU-seconds of execution time; the number of nodes does not matter |
| 10,000 runs a month | $145/mo | $3.60/mo |
| 100,000 runs a month | $320/mo | $40.80/mo |
Pipedream figures assume zero included credits, so they are a ceiling rather than a price. Measured in September 2026 on Pipedream's last published Workflows plans with monthly billing, which are no longer sold.

Latenode Plans
Free
$0
10,000 CPU seconds monthly, 5 active workflows
Pay as you go
$0 base fee
10,000 CPU seconds first, then tiered CPU-second pricing, unlimited active scenarios, monthly spending limit
Custom volume
Custom
SLA, security review and high-volume support
Pay-as-you-go examples: 100,000 CPU sec/mo: $10.80 · 500,000 CPU sec/mo: $48.80 · 1,000,000 CPU sec/mo: $83.80
AI model calls through Latenode's own keys are billed as PnP tokens at provider usage, on top of CPU-seconds. Bring your own API key and no PnP tokens are charged.
How Pipedream Concepts Map to Latenode
Most of a Pipedream workflow has a direct counterpart. Plan extra time for Python, Go or Bash steps and for every credential, because Pipedream's export leaves them out.
| In Pipedream | In Latenode | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| HTTP / webhook trigger | Webhook trigger | Separate Development and Production URLs. Update every sender before March 31, 2027. |
| Custom HTTP response | Webhook Response node | Returns your own status code, body and headers synchronously. |
| Schedule (cron) trigger | Schedule trigger | Accepts a raw cron expression and a timezone. |
| Email trigger | Mailhook trigger | An auto-generated inbound address, with separate Dev and Prod addresses. |
| App event sources | App triggers | Reconnect the account, then select the same event. |
| Pre-built actions | 800+ apps, or the HTTP Request node for any API | HTTP Request imports a cURL command, so a missing app is one paste away. |
| Node.js code steps | Node.js node with full npm support | Use import instead of require, axios instead of fetch. No TypeScript syntax. |
| Python, Go or Bash code steps | Node.js node, written with its AI assistant | Paste the step into the code node's AI chat and ask for the Node.js version. Review before deploying. |
| if/else and switch branches | Branches on the visual canvas | The export lists the steps inside each branch. |
| Auto-retries | Retry on error, per node | Set attempts, delay and an error filter on each node, or ignore errors and route them. |
| Data stores | Built-in database and global variables | Data stores are not in the export. Download their contents separately. |
| Connected accounts, secrets, environment variables | Reconnect and re-enter in Latenode | Never exported. manifest.json lists each one you must re-enter. |
| String (AI builder) | AI Scenario Copilot | Describe the workflow in plain words and Copilot builds the scenario. |
Migration Checklist
Do the export first. After April 30, 2027 there is nothing left to export.
- 1
Export every project
In each Pipedream project open Settings → Export Workflows. The ZIP lands in the project's File Store. One export holds up to 500 workflows or 256 MB, and your plan must include File Stores.
- 2
Download the data the export skips
Event history, data stores, File Store files and the code of private multi-file components are not in the archive. Save what you need separately.
- 3
List what to reconnect
manifest.json names every step and prop you must re-enter: connected accounts, secret props, HTTP auth and environment variables.
- 4
Rebuild with AI Copilot
Paste each workflow's exported JSON into Copilot and ask it to rebuild the scenario, or build on the canvas. Check the Node.js steps; ask the code node's AI assistant to rewrite Python, Go and Bash steps.
- 5
Test on Development, then switch traffic
Run it on the Free plan (10,000 CPU seconds a month) against the Development URL, deploy to Production, point webhooks and app triggers at Latenode, and switch the Pipedream workflow off.
- 6
Cancel Pipedream
Monthly plans cancel in account settings; annual plans get a prorated refund through support. If you do nothing, Pipedream cancels on March 31, 2027 and refunds the remainder.

Where Pipedream Was Stronger, and What Latenode Does Instead
Pipedream did several things well. Here is how each one carries over.
What Pipedream had
Code steps in Node.js, Python, Go and Bash
How Latenode handles it
One language, Node.js, with any npm package. The AI assistant in the code node writes the Node.js version of a Python, Go or Bash step for you to review.
What Pipedream had
A code-first, linear step model developers liked
How Latenode handles it
Code where you want it, plus Copilot to lay out the rest. Prefer your editor? The Latenode MCP Server lets Claude Code or Cursor create, update and run scenarios.
What Pipedream had
3,000+ integrated APIs with pre-built actions
How Latenode handles it
800+ apps with 5,500+ triggers and actions. For anything else, the HTTP Request node imports a cURL command, and you can package it as your own reusable node.
What Pipedream had
GitHub Sync for version control
How Latenode handles it
No Git sync. Instead, every save is a version, Development and Production are separate branches, rollback is a redeploy, and scenarios export as JSON.
When Latenode is not the right move
- You only use Pipedream Connect (API, MCP servers, proxy). It is not affected by the shutdown.
- You must self-host your automation platform. Latenode is a managed cloud; our benchmark compares the self-hosted options.
