Latenode

Automatically summarize and respond to business emails

This template starts when a new email lands in Gmail. ChatGPT returns a short summary, an intent label, and a draft reply.

JavaScript parses that JSON, Gmail saves a draft reply on the thread, and Google Drive stores the summary as a text file. Connect Gmail and Google Drive. ChatGPT is a Latenode AI step, so you do not paste an OpenAI key.

How Latenode estimates time and cost

Latenode bills workflow runtime in CPU seconds. The first 10,000 CPU seconds are free each month, then usage follows pay-as-you-go CPU-second pricing. Plug-and-Play (PnP) AI nodes are billed separately—each PnP token is $1 USD, charged pay-as-you-go at vendor cost plus a small processing fee, with no API keys required.

What this template does

  • Summarizes new Gmail as it arrives
  • Writes the reply with ChatGPT
  • Saves a Gmail draft for you to review
  • Stores the summary in Google Drive

How it works

1
Trigger

Watch the Gmail inbox

The scenario starts when a new email arrives in the Gmail inbox you connect.

2
AI

Summarize and draft

ChatGPT reads subject and body and returns a summary, intent, and reply.

3
Logic

Parse the result

JavaScript reads the ChatGPT JSON so Gmail and Drive get clean fields.

4
Action

Save the draft and summary

Gmail creates a draft reply on the thread. Google Drive saves the summary as a text file.

Setup guide

1

Connect Gmail

Add a Gmail connection with permission to read new mail and create draft replies.

2

Connect Google Drive

Add a Google Drive connection. Pick the folder that should hold email summaries.

3

Watch new email

Add a Gmail trigger for new email on the inbox you want to process.

4

Wire ChatGPT, draft, and Drive

Send subject and body to ChatGPT and ask for summary, intent, and reply as JSON. Parse that in JavaScript. Create a Gmail draft reply and write the summary to Drive. ChatGPT is a Latenode AI step, so you do not paste an OpenAI key.

Requirements

A Gmail inbox Latenode can read and draft from
A Google Drive folder Latenode can write to
