Automatically store Google Drive documents as plain-text with Aspose

This Latenode automation template is designed to automatically convert newly added documents in Google Drive to plain-text files using the Aspose document conversion service. This integration streamlines the process of working with various file formats, ensuring that the content is readily accessible and searchable across your team's Google Drive.

The automation triggers when a new document is added to a specified Google Drive folder, automatically converting it to a plain-text format and storing the result in the same drive location. This solution is targeted at teams and individuals who frequently work with diverse document types in Google Drive and need a reliable way to convert and manage their content.

How Latenode estimates time and cost

Latenode bills workflow runs in credits: 1 credit = 30 seconds of processing. Minimum charge per run depends on your plan. Plug-and-Play (PnP) AI nodes are billed separately—each PnP token is $1 USD, charged pay-as-you-go at vendor cost plus a small processing fee, with no API keys required.

What this template does

  • Automatically converts newly added documents in Google Drive to plain-text files.
  • Utilizes the Aspose document conversion service to handle diverse file formats.
  • Stores the converted plain-text files in the same Google Drive location.
  • Enables teams to access and search the content across their Google Drive.
  • Generates plain-text files for all newly added documents in a specified folder.

How it works

1
Trigger

Monitor Google Drive

The automation monitors the specified Google Drive folder for new documents that are added. This trigger step kicks off the conversion process when a new file is detected.

2
Action

Fetch document content

The automation uses a headless browser to open and read the contents of the newly added document, regardless of its file format (e.g. Word, PDF, spreadsheet).

3
Logic

Convert to plain text

The automation then extracts the text content from the document, converting it to a plain-text format that can be easily searched and managed across the team's Google Drive.

4
Action

Store plain-text file

Finally, the automation saves the converted plain-text file back to the same Google Drive folder, providing a searchable version of the original document's contents.
