Automate SMS notifications for new Trello board activity

This automation allows Trello users to monitor their boards for new activity and automatically send the details of those updates to a specified phone number via SMS. It integrates with the Trello API to detect when new cards are added, comments are posted, or other changes occur on the user's Trello boards.

Once triggered, the automation collects the relevant details about the update, such as the card title, board name, and user who made the change, and then sends an SMS message containing that information to a predefined phone number. This streamlines the process of staying informed about Trello board activity and ensures important updates are communicated promptly, without the user needing to manually check the boards or forward notifications.

What this template does

  • Monitors Trello boards for new activity like added cards, comments, or other changes.
  • Collects details about the update, such as the card title, board name, and user.
  • Sends an SMS message with the update details to a predefined phone number.
  • Integrates with the Trello API to detect and communicate board updates.
  • Streamlines the process of staying informed about Trello board activity.

How it works

1
Trigger

Receive webhook on new Trello activity

The automation starts by setting up a webhook that monitors the user's Trello boards for any new activity, such as new card creation, comments, or other updates. When the Trello API detects a change on one of the user's boards, it will trigger the webhook and pass along the relevant details about the update.

2
Logic

Fetch Trello activity details

Once the webhook is triggered, the automation will use the Trello API to fetch the full details of the activity that occurred, including the card title, board name, and the user who made the change.

3
Action

Format message for SMS

The automation will then take the collected Trello activity details and format them into a concise SMS message to be sent to the user's specified phone number.

4
Action

Send SMS notification via Twilio

Finally, the automation will use the Twilio API to send the SMS message containing the Trello activity details to the user's phone number, ensuring they are promptly informed about any updates to their Trello boards.
