Creating and updating a record in an Airtable table using Latenode

This template creates or updates an Airtable record from an incoming webhook. JavaScript maps the payload onto your table columns and the field you match on, such as email.

Airtable writes a new row or updates the existing one. Connect Airtable. Put the Airtable API key on the Airtable connection, then point the sender at the Latenode webhook URL.

How Latenode estimates time and cost

Latenode bills workflow runtime in CPU seconds. The first 10,000 CPU seconds are free each month, then usage follows pay-as-you-go CPU-second pricing. Plug-and-Play (PnP) AI nodes are billed separately—each PnP token is $1 USD, charged pay-as-you-go at vendor cost plus a small processing fee, with no API keys required.

What this template does

  • Creates an Airtable record from a webhook payload
  • Updates the same row when the match key already exists
  • Maps fields in JavaScript before the write
  • Keeps the Airtable API key on the Airtable connection

How it works

1
Trigger

Receive the webhook

The scenario starts when a JSON payload is posted to your Latenode webhook URL.

2
Logic

Map the fields

JavaScript turns the payload into Airtable columns and the match key.

3
Action

Create or update the record

Airtable creates the record or updates the row that already has that match key.

Setup guide

1

Add a webhook trigger

Add a webhook trigger and copy its URL. Send a sample JSON payload to that URL from the tool that should create or update rows.

2

Connect Airtable

Add an Airtable connection and paste your Airtable API key there. Pick the base and table.

3

Map columns and the match field

In JavaScript, map payload keys onto Airtable fields. Choose the match field, such as email. Create or update the record from that output.

4

Test create and update

Post once to create the row. Post again with the same match key and a changed field, then confirm Airtable updated the same record.

Requirements

An Airtable base and table Latenode can write to
An Airtable API key stored on the Airtable connection
A Latenode webhook URL the sender can POST to

Create a Pipeline deal from a new Discord channel message

Sales teams often miss leads buried in Discord conversations. This scenario captures every new message in a chosen Discord channel and creates a corresponding deal in Pipeline, using the message text as the deal description and the author's username as part of the deal name. Sales managers and business development reps can log inbound signals from team discussions directly into Pipeline CRM without manual data entry. The connection turns Discord into a lead source, so no opportunity slips through the cracks.

Create a Pipeline deal when a new HubSpot deal is added

Manually copying deal data from HubSpot to Pipeline wastes time and risks errors. This automation triggers on the New Deal event in HubSpot and then runs the Create Deal action in Pipeline, mapping the deal name, amount, and associated contact email and name. Sales operations teams and CRM administrators who use both HubSpot and Pipeline can eliminate duplicate data entry. HubSpot captures the initial deal, and Pipeline receives a matching record immediately, so both systems stay aligned without manual work.
