Automatically attach Google Drive files to Asana tasks

This automation integration allows users to streamline file management and task organization by automatically attaching new Google Drive files to corresponding tasks in Asana.

When a new file is uploaded to Google Drive, the integration will detect the file and automatically find the related Asana task, then attach the file to that task. This helps users keep their project documents and task details closely linked, improving collaboration and productivity. The integration is designed for teams and individuals who rely on both Google Drive and Asana to manage their work.

How Latenode estimates time and cost

Latenode bills workflow runs in credits: 1 credit = 30 seconds of processing. Minimum charge per run depends on your plan. Plug-and-Play (PnP) AI nodes are billed separately—each PnP token is $1 USD, charged pay-as-you-go at vendor cost plus a small processing fee, with no API keys required.

How it works

1
Trigger

Connect to Google Drive

The integration starts by connecting to your Google Drive account. This allows it to monitor for new files that are uploaded to your Google Drive.

2
Logic

Connect to Asana

Next, the integration connects to your Asana account. This integration will use the Asana connection to find the appropriate task for each new file that is detected in Google Drive.

3
Logic

Detect new files in Google Drive

The integration continuously monitors your Google Drive for any new files that are uploaded. Whenever a new file is detected, the integration will proceed to the next step.

4
Action

Find related Asana task

For each new file detected in Google Drive, the integration will look up the corresponding Asana task that the file should be attached to. This is done by searching for task details that match the new file.

5
Action

Attach file to Asana task

Once the related Asana task is identified, the integration will automatically attach the new Google Drive file to that task. This keeps your project documents and task details closely linked in Asana.

6
Logic

Process file metadata

Before attaching the file to the Asana task, the integration may optionally process the file metadata to enhance the details that are added to the task. This can include extracting specific information from the file name or content.

Setup guide

1

Add Google Drive credential

In the Latenode Credentials panel, add a new credential for Google Drive. Follow the OAuth flow to authenticate your Google account and grant the integration access to your Google Drive files.

2

Add Asana credential

In the Latenode Credentials panel, add a new credential for Asana. Follow the OAuth flow to authenticate your Asana account and grant the integration access to your Asana workspace.

3

Configure the Google Drive node

In the Latenode visual builder, add a Google Drive node. Configure the node to monitor your Google Drive for new file uploads. Map the relevant file metadata (e.g. file name, URL, size) as output.

4

Configure the Asana node

In the Latenode visual builder, add an Asana node. Configure the node to search for Asana tasks based on the file metadata received from the Google Drive node. Map the relevant task details (e.g. task name, project, assignee) as output.

5

Attach file to Asana task

In the Latenode visual builder, add a final node to attach the Google Drive file to the corresponding Asana task. Use the mapped task details and file metadata to link the new file to the appropriate Asana task.
